physiotherapy treatment

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a medical discipline that helps restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability.

What conditions do physiotherapists treat?

At Dynamic Health we specialise in orthopaedic physiotherapy (physiotherapy for muscle, bone and joint complaints). This includes conditions such as sprains, strains, arthritis, back pain, incontinence, bursitis, posture problems and sport and workplace injuries. It also includes post-operative rehabilitation.

What is post-operative physiotherapy?

Post-operative physiotherapy helps to speed up recovery after surgery and ensure complete healing for a full return to work and sports. At Dynamic Health we provide post-operative treatment for a variety of orthopaedic procedures including those of the ankle, knee, hip, shoulder and spine

What does treatment involve?

Physiotherapists employ a number of different treatment techniques and modalities including manual therapy, exercise, ultrasound, taping, dry needling and education.

What type of training do physiotherapists have?

Standard training for Physiotherapists is a 3-4 year Bachelor of science degree (BSc) in physiotherapy. Physiotherapists are subsequently registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and undertake on-going continuous professional development.

Is physiotherapy treatment safe?

Yes. No health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects but physiotherapy has an excellent safety record and any associated treatment risks are very small. The most common side effect of treatment is mild soreness, stiffness or aching, similar to what you may experience after exercise. This typically fades within 24 hours.

Is physiotherapy treatment covered by my health insurance company

Physiotherapy at Dynamic Health is covered by all major insurance groups . This includes Bupa, AXA PPP, Simply Health, WPA and Aviva.

Do I need a GP referral?

A doctor’s referral isn’t necessary although we do find that many of our patients are referred for treatment by their GP. If you are referred by your GP or consultant please bring with you a copy of the referral letter and the written report of any X-ray or MRI related to your injury.

I had chronic back pain and I heard that Steffen was the best person to see locally. I now have no more pain in bed at night or whilst driving. Unlike previous treatments Steffen never manipulated my back aggressively and I always walked out of the clinic in better condition. I would definitely recommend without hesitation.
